Hosting a Home Party

If you'd like to host a Home Party, here are some steps to take.

  • Decide on the type of event (Wine and Cheese, Barbeque, Dessert Party, Holiday Theme).

  • Choose a date.

  • Choose a start time (and end time if applicable).

  • Do you want to co-host with another couple?

  • Determine if there is a limit to the number of guests you can accomodate.

  • Be ready to provide directions to your home.

  • Determine what you will supply.

  • Determine what your guests will supply.

  • Decide if there is any special dress be required.

  • Decide if the event is for ACT Couples only, or if you will invite other friends.

  • Can people smoke? If so, where?

  • Are couples with children welcome to bring their children?

  • Do you have pets (some people are very allergic to animals).

  • Determine by when people must RSVP.

Contact the Events Couple to confirm the date and time. They will ask you about the event to make sure all the details are covered and communicated in the newsletter properly.

As the event host, you don't have to provide everything. Here is a list of some things you can ask your guests to provide.

  • Ice

  • Ice Chest

  • Soft Drinks

  • Mixers

  • Vegetable Tray with Dip

  • Hors d'oeuvres

  • Bread, rolls, buns

  • Condiments

  • Green Salad

  • Pasta Salad

  • Chips and Dip

  • Peanuts

  • Desserts

  • Plates, Cups, Napkins, Plasticware

As a host for an event, you are not expected to provide alcohol to your guests. Our members are used to bringing their own alcohol if they choose to drink. This not only helps keep the cost down for you as a host, but also prevents you from taking on unneccessary liability.
